How long have you been practicing yoga?

 Six years. 

What got you into teaching?

I enrolled in Yoga Teacher Training because I fell in love with physical and spiritual aspects of the practice. I had no idea what a life changing experience it would be! I realized right away that the practice of yoga is a lifestyle that is beyond the physical and I wanted to share my passion with as many people as possible.

What is your favorite yoga pose?

My most favorite yoga pose is half moon. When I take this shape I feel so powerful  as I balance in opposition. This pose has us rooting down and rising up, reaching in all directions.

The most challenging yoga pose for me is...

Any type of backbend because my lumbar spine is very tight from an injury in my early twenties.  The more I practice yoga, the more I realize that it’s not about what the pose looks like but how it makes me feel. I've become more compassionate with my body and all the ’noise’ it makes. Perfection is an illusion.

What is your favorite book?

Lately I’ve been reading, "Journey to the Heart" by Melody Beattie.

It is a collection of meditations - one for every day of the year. I love waking up and reading a page first thing in the morning  and creating a mantra that I can use throughout the day.
